Emmanuel Tahear and Adugna Andulalem
Chicago, Illinois
Emmanuel and Adugna serve in the Chicago land area as Culture ConneXions missionaries with SIM. They also have a vibrant international ministry that includes mobilization, church planting and compassion dentistry. Emmanuel has been ministering to the local immigration population. He has helped to plant churches in the Liberian, Vietnamese and Pilipino church communities.
Continue readingHe helps local pastors and their churches to expand their ministries. Through networking with the local churches Emmanuel coordinates the annual Nations Worship event where many churches worship and fellowship together. Emmanuel also ministers to local pastors in countries like Ethiopia and trains them to teach the gospel.
He has authored book in Amharic about reaching out to women who are often neglected in ministry and is currently working on an Ahmaric evangelism manual aimed at sharing the gospel with Muslims.
Adugna is passionate about helping underprivileged people with dental needs. As a dentist licensed in Sweden she is able to perform dentistry in most parts of the world. Adugna puts this into practice by participating in several mission trips to foreign countries through the year, most notably Dominican Republic, Ethiopia and North West Africa.
Her Ethiopian heritage and knowledge of the culture and language has enabled her to quickly form strong and lasting bonds with the people of Sendafa where her team from LWCC (Living Word Community Church) work alongside the HIV/AIDS project of an indigenous mission organization. Being able to speak Ahmaric allows Adugna to converse on a deeper, spiritual level with patients and enables her to share to gospel in an authentic way.
EMMANUEL TAHEAR
In the Domican Republic Adugna partners with the Kids Alive Orphanage in the towns of Costanza and Jarabacoa to serve their children through a mobile dental clinic. It is a unique gift for Adugna to serve the same children year after year since she has records of past procedures and is able to plan for future dental health. Of course seeing the same face every time helps tremendously in lowering the anxiety most children feel when they go for a dental checkup.
In North West Africa she works in a country that is closed to the Gospel.
…’Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?’ 1 Chr 17:16
